here i go, here i go, here i go again

it's been a while. almost a year. i almost regret it. but i don't like having regrets. i've been busy living. and i must admit that i almost deleted all my old posts for fear of sounding like an ass, but i'm leaving them up so we can all have a good laugh. especially at the black eye.

so 10 months have passed and quite a bit has happened. i squeaked my foot in the door of the music industry, i [as of last friday] have a niece named Caroline, and my circle in new york keeps getting better and better by the minute. my complaints are few, if any. perhaps just the guy upstairs whose feet must be made of lead.

there's much to say. i don't quite know where to start. all i know is writing is something that selfishly helps me, so i'm coming back to it. you [and i] have my word. til the next stroke of late night brilliance, i'll leave you with my g-rated 3 year email i sent out to friends and family:

today i have been here...

3 years.
3 falls full of color.
3 winters full of layered clothing.
3 springs full of sidewalk brunches.
3 summers full of rooftop parties.
3 years ago today i stepped on a plane with a one-way ticket and a stomach full of knots. i came in search of something, but i didn't really know what. all i knew is i was going to [try and] find it.
3 years later i feel like i'm beginning to do so. maybe. who knows. but i'm ridiculously happy [thank you, music industry]. so 2 careers, multiple roommates, and countless visitors later, i'm still here. and i hate to break it to you [sorry momma!], but in many ways, i'm just getting started.

today i'm thankful for quite a few things, but top of the list is you - the collective [yet specific] you that has loved me and supported me and kept in touch with me and didn't call me crazy for enduring months of unemployment followed by an unpaid internship [which, by the way, has turned into full-time employment]. having you behind me has given me strength and confidence to keep pushing on. things just keep getting better and better, and so i'm sending you my gratitude and love.

lots of love from the concrete jungle,
s

I am glad you are blogging again, too! Sounds like all is well in NYC. I know you can't wait to meet Caroline! We are looking forward to seeing you next month. We might just all have to call you when we are together this weekend at the bachelorette party :)

Couldn't have said it better myself Fens. I sometimes think we live parallel lives (except that you're a year behind me :) Ironically enough, I am back in action on the blog scene as well. There is indeed something therapeutic about it. So, since we are both looking to bring back our fan base, how about I post a link to yours on mine and vice versa? Miss you fennies and glad you could celebrate my 4 year NYC anniversary with me. Write on, my friend...
